Carry On

With our upcoming trip to California, i've been buying buying outfits and planning on what to pack.  My whole life I have been a textbook over packer. I wouldn't plan on what I was going to wear, I would just pack my whole closet so there would be no missing out! But with age comes wisdom, now I make lists! I make lists of what I will wear each day and any supplies I might need. Here is my list of what is essential in a carry on!
I always always always wear a scarf on a plane. Planes get cold but I don't want to change my outfit around to go from plane to vacation, so a scarf is perfect. Wrap it around as a shawl during flight and just take it off if its too hot when you land! Perfect!

Often times, you go straight from the plane ride to whatever you are doing for the day without a chance to freshen up at the hotel. These babies rock! A. Banana Republic has the best perfumes B. These are travel size so you can take them on the plane with you!

Of course you have to bring your iPad or macbook! We will be bring both this trip so we can both be entertained! I like to download an audiobook so when we are in flight I can listen with out being on the internet.

I love this book by Nicholas Sparks! I haven't read this in a while so it will be coming with me next week!

Lastly, the most important travel essential is dramamine! I usually get very sick when I fly, but when I take this, I doze off and don't feel a thing! Really its important to bring all of your medication with you in your carry on, in case your luggage gets lost of you need to take some immediately.

Summer Style

Living in Colorado, I am very lucky that even when it is 90 degrees, it feels like 70. I am not a huge fan and tiny shorts and tube tops so i'm fortunate that the weather her permits me to cover up a little more and still look summery! We leave for our vacation next week and believe it or not, the weather at our destination is only in the 70's as well! Needless to say i've been having a ball buying new clothes for the season and occasion. Here are few looks that are perfect for the preppy gal this summer!

Floral dresses are very in this season. The high/ low hem line is super flattering! Throw a wedge on with it and its perfect for church and brunch.

The multiple accessories is something i'm totally loving! The chain link bracelet is especially trendy!

As I have said before, its not super hot here so the layered top with a short works perfectly. A crisp white short paired with solid colors up top is a winner.

Blingly jewerly adds something special to an outfit. The bright pink and navy is a lovely color combo!

Bright capris, skinnys, and shorts in a bright color are on the top of my list!! Mint and pink are my favs!

We all know my love for polka dots! They are all the rage this season, appearing in pants, tops and dresses!

                                                                                                                                     -Kels

Enjoying the weather

So it has been amazing here lately! The weather is warm but not too super hot and the perfect amount of breeze! So we have been hanging outside, BBQing, drinking, and last weekend we went to the zoo.

Buddies grilling some steaks!

Miss Sherelle and I hanging out by the fire pit!

If you did'nt know, this is the BEST summer beer!

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs just opened a new bistro overlooking the zoo. They serve upscale bistro food, wine and beer. Once again, he is being a trooper by taking a pic with me at the bistro.

Love this picture of us at the Zoo! Just in case you were wondering, my shirt is a lace shirt from target for twenty bucks! Perfect summer tee.

Wedding!

My very good friend Autumn got married at the end of May! She asked me to sing at the ceremony. I was so excited she asked me! I haven't sang in public since high school so naturally I was very nervous.   The song went great, she looked beautiful and we all got to hang out for the weekend!
Autumn and I were friends in college and then roommates our first year of college. She did such an amazing job planning her wedding. She got married May 25, 2013 in Hays Kansas. She basically planned it all herself! She was so stressed but after all the stress, she got to marry the man of her dreams and relax in Mexico for her honeymoon!

My ladies and I LOVE our special events! We wonder what is next?!
During the limo ride to the reception we stopped off at a little white church in the country for the bride and groom to snap a few pics. Alyssa and I had to join in!
Alyssa getting her make up done for the wedding. Such a beautiful bridesmaid!

Me and my girls, minus the bride! She was very busy making the rounds.

The lovely Sarah. She was an amazing Maid of Honor for Autumn!

Kissey face! He allowed me a few pics that night. He is def. not a fan of pics.

Champagne the Limo! Thanks Autumn for a great party!

The beautiful bride enjoying the limo!!

Me, Alyssa and Sarah at the rehearsal, again, with out the bride...busy gal!

Enjoying a margarita at the rehearsal dinner. So much fun!

Ty

Today my family dog passed away. She was a 12 year old lemon beagle that was so special to me and my family. When I was on a trip in High School or off at College, I would call home and ask to "talk" to her. All my friends would laugh at me but she made me so happy. Every time I would come home she would run outside to greet me and do a happy pee and just love on me. She  always wanted to be petted and was always begging for treats. Her favorite treat was pepperonis! When she got a little older and my parents weren't scared she would run away( beagles follow their noses) they would go get the mail together and her treat was a pepperoni!

A few days ago she stopped eating and drinking. The vet said it was her kidneys and there wasn't much we could do. The vet was going to come to the house in the morning to put her to sleep, but she went naturally in her sleep last night. My mom, dad and brother were by her side petting her and making her comfortable. She was buried under our trees at home where she lived her whole life. My parents built our house a few years before we got Ty so it means a lot to us for her to be there. I know she is in Heaven running around and eating lots of treats! I will always have a special place in my heart for her. I love you Ty.

Back when she was a puppy! She was so beautiful!

This was a christmas 2011. Me, Ryan, Millie and Ty.

I insisted taking a picture with her after my wedding!

I was back home at the end of May for my brothers college graduation and i'm so thankful to have gotten that chance to see her one last time. She was feeling very good when I was there!  This picture was taken in May 2013, just a few weeks before she passed. One morning when I was there, I was the only one in the house so I took a shower with the door open. She would come upstairs and just lay by the shower. She just wanted to be near me while she could. She is so sweet and I will miss her dearly.
